Can Android gain more World Smart Phone Market Share in 2014?

Android has been growing rapidly in the world market. Android is a free smart phone operating system from Google and research and analysis show that almost 51% of the world’s running smart phones is Android based. Android’s popularity can be judged by two tech and smart phone crazy countries Australia and China. Almost 70% of the active smart phones in Australia are Android based where as 69% Smart phones users in China are using Android.

Android has been fastly growing its customer and fans base in the world and Android’s market covers Australia, Asia, Asia Pacific, Middle East, Europe and America. Though, many surveys show that Windows Phones have increased their share in World Smart phone market and it is expected that Windows Phones will be 11% of the world smart phones by 2017 as there is a slight change has been seen in the demand of Windows phone in the first quarter of 2013 but jumping to 11% in next four years can’t be promised. Windows Phones recently got little better results after Nokia launched Nokia Lumia series and there are more smart phones based on Windows Phones are coming from the same manufacturer.


Apple has its own big market after Android. Apple’s iPhone covers 41.4% of the US Smart phone market, says survey. In China there are speculations that Apple takes maximum 18% share of total Smart phones market.

The question comes to the mind after taking a look on those stats and figures of world market share of Smart phones that How Android will do in the future? Is any other Operating system competing Android in 2014? Will Apple bring new offerings in 2013 and 2014 to grab more market share in the world’s smart phone market?


Android Smart phones turned out to be the biggest competition of Apple’s iOS. iPhone faced toughest competition from recent Android Smart phones from Samsung in last one year. Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy S4 were most successful smart phones of Samsung’s history and actually these two smart phones had bridged the new road for Samsung to continue and even do much more in the smart phone market using Android. Android has been one of the biggest benefits of the Samsung smart phones, not only Samsung but other brands like HTC, LG and Sony are bringing their Smart phones with Android OS. Nokia and Apple’s biggest competition is Android OS. BlackBerry recently released their smart phone with BlackBerry OS in BlackBerry Z10 and BlackBerry 7 Smart phones, but BlackBerry have to go to the long way yet.

Some experts believe that iPhone 5 has made some improvement for the Apple’s market share and upcoming iPhone 5S will do much better as far as market share for Apple is concerned. The point is, what will happen in 2014?


Android in 2014

As Android has got the acceptability in the global market, and its market share is continuously growing, whether it is China’s market or European market, Android ultimately got progress. Top smart phones and mobile manufacturing brands are utilizing Android OS to make their Smart phone successful. Android is certainly expected to increase its market share in the year 2014. The percentage of growth of Android in 2014 might not be high in America and European market, as compared to Australia, Asia and Middle east, but improvements and graph will certainly keep on moving up Android in Europe and America in 2014. Android lovers would be looking ahead to buy many more new and latest Android phones from their favourite manufacturers like Samsung, HTC, LG and Sony.
