Pakistan auctioned 3G/4G spectrum on April 23, 2014, and four interested bidders and already operating cellular giants purchased 3G/4G Technology licences. Pakistan telecommunication authority (PTA) auctioned four 3G licenses which include two 10 Mhz and two 5 Mhz licences and a 4G licence as well.

Pakistan gets $902.82 million from 3G auction and 4G licence brought $210 million to Pakistan. Mobilink and Zong got 10 Mhz 3G licences, where as Ufone and Telenor stayed with 3G licences. Zong alone got 4G party…

Pakistan is all set to launch 3G/4G technology in next 6 months after telecom operators would prep and launch the technology for consumers. Rumors of beta testing have already been heard on Facebook and Twitter from all over the country especially from Telenor and Zong customers in Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, Peshawar and Islamabad.

Hopefully, 3G/4G technology will reach to other major cities of Pakistan like Sialkot, Faisalabad, Hyderabad, Sukkhar and others in next 12 months.
