Youtube got banned in Pakistan in 2012 over a controversial video containing blasphemous material against Islam which wasn’t removed by Youtube after being reported to the youtube authorities – Later on Youtube removed that video in 2014 on a US Court order.

Geo Website revealed in an update on April 21, 2014 that a Senate Committee has passed the resolution to remove the ban on world largest video content site in Pakistan to remove the barrier in getting huge information and entertainment through youtube content portal. (Source)

Youtube certainly a need of people – It shouldn’t be banned totally – There are certain ways to block the specified URLs over all ISPs so that such content can’t be accessed in the country. Senate Committee also took the stance that a piece of wrong material shouldn’t hurt the whole library.

Pakistan’s Senate Functional Committee on Human Rights has passed the resolution to lift the ban on YouTube in the country, and hopefully it will be accessible all over the country within few days. Senate Committee agreed that no other Islamic Country restricted the access to Youtube.
